What’s Next for Jill Omari? The Story Is Still Unfolding.

After more than 20 years living in Tanzania, I have a lot of stories to tell.

Some will make you laugh. Some still bring tears to my eyes. There are children I watched grow into adults, friendships that became family, and moments that changed how I understand faith, service, and what it means to walk alongside someone.

I went to Tanzania with a heart to serve. I could not have imagined all the ways those years would shape me.

And now, as life and family seasons have changed, people sometimes ask, “So, Jill, what’s next?”

There is still so much I want to do in Tanzania. But I also want to help other people discover how they can be part of it.

That is the heart behind Base Camp Missions.

How Base Camp Missions Began

Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving alongside people who care deeply about their communities. Teachers, pastors, ministry leaders, and friends who show up day after day for children and families.

Those relationships helped shape the vision for Base Camp Missions. We have trusted partners, years of shared experience, and opportunities to support work that is already making a difference.

At the same time, I know there are people here at home who want to help but aren’t sure where to begin. Maybe you have thought about going on a mission trip. Maybe you have a skill to share. Maybe you care deeply about children and families and simply want to know that your contribution matters.

I wanted to build bridges between those people and those opportunities.

Base Camp Missions grew out of that desire.

Everyone Has a Place in Missions

We did not design Base Camp as a traditional missionary sending organization. Our vision is to grow a movement that encourages everyday people to become directly involved in missions.

You do not have to be a minister or move overseas to have a place in this work.

You might be a teacher, a business owner, a builder, an artist, a parent, or someone with a willing heart and a little time to give. You might pray, support a project, introduce us to your church, or join a team in Tanzania.

I get excited thinking about what can happen when people begin to see that the experience and gifts they already have can help someone else.

Everyone has a place in missions. That includes you.

What’s Ahead

East Africa is our focus, with Tanzania at the center of our ongoing work. As Base Camp begins to grow, we are building on longstanding relationships and planning the next steps with our partners.

Our goals for 2026–2027 include strengthening opportunities for children to learn and create, helping families meet practical needs, supporting sustainable food projects, and welcoming teams who can serve alongside our local partners.

Through these efforts, we are working toward reaching thousands of children and families in Tanzania. Behind that goal are individual people, each with a story, a family, and hopes for the future.

In the coming months, I’ll share more about these projects, introduce you to some of our partners, and tell a few of the stories that brought us here.

There is so much experience from those years in Tanzania that I want to carry forward, and so much I still have to learn. I am grateful that this next chapter gives me the opportunity to keep serving while opening the door for others to join in.

I’m excited about what is unfolding, and I would love for you to be part of it.

Gather. Grow. Go.

With love,Jill
